I've release 11 songs so far, and with each release I found out that if I'm not creative enough with the promotion aspect of the release, my song will not be heard by as many people as it should. So this article will help you open your horizons to the best unusual ways to promote your song and your music.

1. Advanced Busking

Busking is not for the faint of heart. However, many musicians that actually go out there and busk, don't have the number one thing that will get them the full potential out of their busking session, and that thing is to have a sign. A clear sign with your name written on it. This way, you're not just a person on the street, now you are a musician with a name, and later they can search you online and find you on their favorite music platform.

2. Give free or paid CD's

Even though people don't use CD's as much anymore, giving a CD with your songs on it in a relatively good price or for free, can make you an interesting artist that is worth to check. They might not even listen to your CD, but what they will have is your name and a gift from you, and if it's written and designed properly, it might make them check you online, and if they like your music they might even tell this story to a friend, and the next thing you know you are the next Elvis.

3. Start your own blog or podcast

Other than roaming the streets in order to promote yourself, you gotta have some online presence. These days everybody is on the internet and if you want to get more people to know about you, a blog or a podcast might be a good way to do so. If you are good in writing, start a blog, if you are good in talking start a podcast, it doesn't matter, as long as you love it and give people value. For example - this blog that you are just reading is my blog, and people get to know me this way, and this might open an appetite in them to check my music. If you'll have a podcast you can even play your songs in the background while you speak. you can incorporate your music in many cool ways. The sky is the limit here.

4. Ask people to share your music - on a private message

I know this one is tough, but that's why the title is "How to promote your song in unusual ways". So, all you have to do for this one is to send people a private message, telling them that it would help you a lot if they can share your music. Don't force them, but tell them to listen and to share it if they like it, this way it's more likely that you would not ruin your reputation with them.

5. Contact someone with promotion experience

Some of us don't have the money to promote with a company, this is why many artists want to be signed to a label, because they don't want to handle almost anything but the music. However, some of you might have the money, and contacting a mentor who knows more than you about promotion and offering the best your money can pay, will get you to the next level. Choose your mentor carefully, make sure you and them are on the same page and are able to communicate without arguing about everything.

Don't stop yourself here

If you want to succeed, you gotta work for it. Grab a piece of paper, and write down 3 unusual ways to promote your music. I'd be happy if you share them with me on my Instagram or on other Social Media.

I hope this article brought value to you, don't hesitate to contact me if you have any question. Sincerely Yours, Haim Shim.
